Saporin Products & Conjugates|PhotoQ3
PhotoQ3 provides high-quality saporin products and custom conjugation services for research use. Our portfolio includes recombinant saporin, streptavidin-saporin, and custom saporin conjugates designed to support immunotoxin research, antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) development, targeted cell ablation, and antibody evaluation.
What is Saporin?
Saporin is a Ribosome-Inactivating Protein (RIP) derived from the plant Saponaria officinalis.
Once internalized into cells, saporin irreversibly inactivates ribosomal RNA, leading to the inhibition of protein synthesis and ultimately inducing cell death.
Because saporin alone has limited ability to enter cells, it is widely used as an immunotoxin when conjugated to targeting molecules such as antibodies, peptides, growth factors, or ligands. These conjugates enable selective delivery of saporin to specific cell populations for research applications.
Major Research Applications of Saporin
Immunotoxin Development (Next-Generation ADC Research)
Saporin can be conjugated to antibodies or ligands to evaluate target-specific cytotoxic activity and assess the potential of novel immunotoxin and ADC candidates.
Internalization Studies
Saporin-based conjugates are widely used to determine whether antibodies or other targeting molecules are efficiently internalized into target cells.
Target Validation
By selectively eliminating specific cell populations, saporin serves as a powerful research tool for validating therapeutic targets and investigating the biological functions of target cells.

SukonaTM-SA, Streptavidin-Saporin
Biotin-Based Platform for Rapid Targeted Cytotoxicity Studies
Sukona™-SA is a saporin conjugate containing streptavidin fused to the N-terminus of saporin. By simply combining it with biotinylated antibodies, peptides, or other targeting molecules, researchers can rapidly generate targeted cytotoxic reagents without the need for additional conjugation steps. This makes Sukona™-SA particularly useful for proof-of-concept studies and early-stage screening applications.
Key Features
- Easily paired with biotinylated antibodies and proteins
- Flexible target selection through biotinylated ligands
- Suitable for preliminary immunotoxin evaluation
- Useful for small-scale screening studies
