Published a paper on the structure and mechanism of oxalate transporter OxlT

A research group led by Professor Atsuko Yamashita of the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University, Associate Professor Keiichi Okazaki of the Research Center for Computational Science, Institute for Molecular Science, National Institutes of Natural Sciences,Associate Professor Tatsuro Shimamura of the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, Team Leader Teruhisa Hirai of the RIKEN SPring-8 Center and our Representative Director, Takao Hamakubo published a paper.

Using SPring-8, they have elucidated the steric structure of the oxalate transporter used by oxalate-degrading bacterium, which are involved in urinary tract stone formation, when they absorb oxalic acid from the gut.
